Alicia is a performer and choreographer who lives between Rotterdam and Valencia. She graduated from ArtEZ (Netherlands) and began creating pieces such as Bullets, IN LINE, Symbiose, Vogel, WEG, Minerva, and Clausura. Alicia has also worked with choreographers such as Keren Levi, Krisztina de Châtel, Rosángeles Valls, Rakesh Sukesh, Itamar Serussi, Marco Goecke, Ivo van Hove, Christof Loy, Robert Carsen, and Taiat Dansa, among others. She has directed several short dance films, including ICON, EXHALE, and currently ROSARIO, and has danced in various productions at the Dutch National Opera and Les Arts.
Alicia has led the research program in the Dance and Choreography Degree at ArtEZ in collaboration with Keren Levi and has assisted Rakesh Sukesh in teaching the IntAct-Method internationally. In addition, she teaches her own workshops throughout Europe, as she will soon do in the 2025 edition of the GoOD Project.
Alongside her dance work, Alicia researches the use of audio description (AD) in dance, drawing on her studies as a translator to make it accessible to blind and visually impaired people. In 2022, she presented: “Accessibility in Dance through Audio Description: Intersemiotic Translation as a Resource for Blind and Low-Vision People.”
A year later, she expanded on some aspects of her research and presented them at the Advanced International Research Seminar on Audio Description (ARSAD 2023) in Barcelona: “From Labanotation to Subjectivity in the Audio Description of the Contemporary Dance Piece Minerva.”
